Is the single player game a thing of the past?

I didn't get to go to E3 like some people,  so I'm forced to get my game-related news closer to home:

Big time consultant, social media expert, and closet gamer David Griner loves his single player games. On the normally social media focused blog The Social Path he has an excellent post about the future of single player experience in games. Check out the thoughtful piece here.
